Is it legal to lock a bicycle to a tree, lamp post, or street sign in New York City (Queens)?

Definitely NOT a tree and definitely NOT a street sign…and for that matter you can add definitely NOT on a subway entrance (the green metal bars that signify an entrance to an underground subway station). Those will get taken away by the NYPD and you would have to pay to get it back.

I wouldn’t think a lamp post, but don’t quote me. The only way that I know for SURE that’s legal is to lock your bike on one of those curved bars that are specifically for bike locking.
