what is the life cycle of a medium sized star as far as the names and the life cycle?

Nebula under the influence of gravity and magnetic fields, possibly of shock waves from nearby novas, begin to collapse. Once the density passes the point where regions become opaque, these regions are called Bok globules (for Bart J. Bok, Dutch-American astronomer who first studied them). Continuing condensing produces Herbig objects, about the size of the solar system, then IR objects , when they finally start to warm up. Once hot enough, you have a T Tauri star, which is very unstable. As it settles down, it becomes a Main Sequence star. After that what happens depends on its mass. Up to about 2 solar masses and it will gradually use up its hydrogen, swell onto the Giant Branch, and then shrink down to white dwarf. Above 2 solar masses, it will be able to fuse helium, causing it to again have several possible fates depending upon mass. Up to 4.6 solar masses it will fluctuate between red giant and other stages before ultimately shrinking into a white dwarf. Above 4.6 solar masses it can go nova. Novas, depending upon mass, produce white dwarfs, pulsars, or black holes.
