I just got a new shimano cassette, but it included no lockring…. ?

Are lockrings specific to the cassette, or are there universal ones that i can purchase at my local bikeshop…. ????

If you are simply replacing a cassette, just reuse the current lockring.
Some lockrings are specific to cassettes. For expensive models, such as XTR or Dura-Ace, you might just need that expensive part.
The good news though is that most of these should be a standard model you should be able to get from your local bike shop. To see some of the more exotic ones, you can look below.
