What parts to I have to change to go from 8 to 9 speed?

My front chain rings are 8/9 speed so cranks are staying but what else? I know the cassette, chain and shifters need to change. What about dérailleurs? I now have 8 speed front XT (737) and rear XTR (900).

the cassette is a straight swap – easy. you MUST have a 9 speed chain the derailleurs may well work give it a try – it will depend upon how warn they are and tollerances but it will not cost a penny to try them. Of couse your rear derailleur shifter (right hand) will need to be changed for a 9 speeder. I would be tempted to leave well alone at 8 speeds until you have worn out what you have. happy riding
